Going Electric 2023!

Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, ‘Going Electric’ will be returning to the Isle of Wight College this July to once again showcase all things electric.

2022’s staging generated a real buzz with almost 1,000 visitors exploring over 30 stands – and 2023 looks set to be even better. The 1-day event will be held from 10:00-16:00 on Sunday 30th July with ample free parking and refreshment stands available.
Marketed as the Island’s largest EV show, Going Electric gives Islanders the opportunity to explore all the latest cars and vans, as well as bikes, EV charging, renewable energy and more, together with talks from leading experts on many aspects of the electric transport revolution and sustainable living.

This free-to-attend event is again sponsored by WightFibre and brings together the Island’s leading automotive dealers, with Leslies Motor Group, Esplanade, Premier Motors, Central Garage, Snows, Harwoods, EV Express and Nixon Automotive just some that are already confirmed for the event.

The highly popular ‘Bike Zone’ will again enable visitors to see, and test ride the latest electric bikes, with a dedicated ‘Meet the owner’ area providing the perfect opportunity to meet EV owners and ask questions about their day-to-day use of EV’s and how they fit into their lives.

Talks from leading experts in the lecture room are again sponsored by Red Funnel and will look at electrification of home and transport, and the bigger picture of renewable technologies and the global environment.

The event is being presented by Wight Community Energy supported by funding from Power to Change.

Colin Palmer, Director of Wight Community Energy, comments:

“The world is going electric. Millions of EVs are hitting the road each year, but the electric revolution is about much more than just cars. Wight Community Energy’s ‘Going Electric’ event will showcase the breadth and depth of this revolution in mobility and home energy, showing what is happening now and where the electric future will take us. It is going to be an exciting ride!”
