Power to Change (PtC)

Power to Change is the independent trust funded by the National Lottery Community Fund that supports community businesses in England. WCE have received grant funding from Power to Change through their Next Generation programme.

Next Generation

Next Generation is a community energy programme funded by Power to Change to equip community-owned solar groups with the knowledge, skills and opportunities that they need to take ownership and develop their solar assets into long term successful projects that deliver against local needs and priorities.

Bright Renewables act as asset managers for Wight Community Energy. Bright are the UK’s first fully community owned asset management company. They specialise in the community energy sector, helping communities to own and operate renewable energy projects.

People Powered CIC

People Powered CIC is a community interest company specialising in active and sustainable travel consultancy and project delivery services. Based on the Isle of Wight, People Powered aims to improve sustainable travel options on the Island and beyond, particularly through work which enables more people to walk and cycle, both as a recreational activity and as modes of transport. People Powered CIC are delivering the E-cargo Bike project in conjunction with Wight Community Energy.

Mixergy

Mixergy is a spin out company from the University of Oxford’s Energy and Power Group. They are developing intelligent solutions to domestic water heating, with an award-winning internet connected smart hot water tank that uses machine learning to optimise efficiency. The tanks also have the unique ability to offer a demand-side response to the National Grid, heating up only when there is an excess of renewable energy generated, whilst demand is low. Wight Community Energy are working with Mixergy on the Smart Hot Water project, installing Mixergy technology into hotels on the Isle of Wight to demonstrate their energy and money saving capabilities as well as their demand side response characteristics.
