Spring 2024 will see a brand-new eco-friendly event on the Island. Wight Community Energy are organising the Islands first ‘Green Open Homes’, this event will see proud homeowners which have upgraded their properties with energy efficiency in mind open their homes to the curious public.
This event aims to demystify the techniques and technologies that can make our homes more comfortable, cheaper to run and less impactful on the environment.
Wight Community Energy are following a national model to deliver the event with detailed plans available to cover every imaginable aspect of this project, including the booking of visits to suit the homeowners and the related legalities.
Stephe Cockett general manager at WCE said “Feedback from other communities who have run such events tells us that both hosts and visitors find these events to be both fun and informative, visitors can gain invaluable insights into the real-world experiences of installing and living with energy efficiency measures and low-carbon technologies enabling them to make better informed decisions about how to go about ‘greening’ their own properties.
