Our project partner Mixergy has been hitting the news recently for its work rolling out electric hot water tanks with Centrica.
Wight Community Energy are working with Mixergy piloting the Mixergy tank technology to track hot water tanks in selected hotels on the Isle of Wight. The Mixergy technology tracks hot water levels in the tank and learns usage patterns to tailor water volumes to ensure there is hot water just when it is needed.
This means that the tanks also have the capacity to absorb surplus energy from renewables such as solar, helping to manage the grid and avoid curtailment.
